Commercial space to own or lease in Ferrymead

Ferrymead redevelopment offers new commercial space on the corner of Ferry Road and Waterman Place.

waterman-place-min.jpgDue for completion in April 2016, this A-grade property will be known as 1 Waterman and will have six retail or office units. These are available to own or lease exclusively through JLL. 

“Since the 2011 ear​thquake we have seen the transformation of Ferrymead from an industrial centre to an area with retail and hospitality options which appeal to the high-demographic suburbs of Sumner, Redcliffs and Mount Pleasant,” JLL Commercial Broker Louise Urban says. 

There are four units of 138sqm and two corner u​​nits of 190sqm – 250sqm. Unit 1 has already sold to Focus Digital. 

“These units are being built to a very high standard by Leighs Construction,” Louise Urban says. “The plans have the option to include a mezzanine in all units, should the owner require.  In addition to the mezzanine option, Leighs Construction is also able to provide specialist fit outs for individual tenancies.”

She says the unique design of the units means they could suit a wide variety of businesses. 

“Retailers will appreciate that this is a high-traffic area on one of the main routes between the city and Sumner. The popular ale house and restaurants opposite this site bring plenty of locals to the area. That development also includes a medical practice, a bank and a gym, meaning there is foot traffic both day and night.”

JLL has just released its Pulse report for Christchurch’s retail market, for the first quarter of 2016. The report says that, as retail across New Zealand continues to suffer from strong online competition, locations with high levels of foot-traffic are becoming increasingly important for tenants to remain competitive. Suburban rentals are holding at existing levels, as demand remains steady.​​

Unit title purchase options are available for 1 Waterman. Lease rates will be negotiable, depending on fit-out.
