It is 30 years since commercial real estate specialists JLL began working in New Zealand.

A series of events are planned this year to celebrate the anniversary.

Throughout the country JLL will be hosting celebrations and sponsoring events in order to celebrate the milestone.

"JLL has been delivering results for New Zealand for 30 years, and we look forward to delivering results for at least 30 more. We want to celebrate the company's past, present and future," Associate Director, Marketing Libby Wilson says.

"We're also looking forward to hosting a series of breakfasts for our clients to celebrate 30 years in the New Zealand market," Wilson says.

JLL is also sponsoring the Ocean Swim Series this year.

"Thousands of Kiwis have already taken part and we're looking forward to the King of the Bays swim on Auckland's North Shore on April 2," Wilson says.

Great partnerships

This year is proving to be a busy one for JLL and its partners in the property industry. In Wellington, JLL's Director, Investment Sales John McKenzie is working with Todd Property on Kapiti Landing, the development next to Kapiti Airport. McKenzie successfully leased the 11,073sqm new-build site to Placemakers last year and is back working with Kapiti Landing in 2016 on more tenants.

"It is a large-scale project involving the development of 125 hectares of land into a business park in a prime location on the Kapiti Coast," Todd Property's Managing Director Evan Davies says.

"It already hosts a number of significant tenants including Mitre 10 Mega, New World and Smiths City with new tenants Burger Fuel and Liquor King due to open their outlets in April.

"Kapiti Landing is proud of the contribution it makes to the local community and the region more broadly. We are committed to supporting economic growth by creating new business and employment opportunities. Our $5 million investment in upgrading Kapiti Coast Airport has already contributed to an increase in visitors to the region and provides a vital link for local businesses to other parts of the country.

"Businesses at Kapiti Landing are also set to take advantage of the increased accessibility provided by the construction of the McKays to Pekapeka Expressway and the significantly improved connection into Wellington that the Transmission Gully motorway will ensure."

Valuations work increases

JLL New Zealand's valuations team are busy working with clients both here and overseas. JLL's specialty plant and machinery valuers undertake work all over the world for some of Australasia's largest companies. This includes travelling to Asia, South America and Australia. "Recent projects have included working alongside JLL Brazil's property valuation team valuing food production facilities, Australian Regional Infrastructure, Military Assets, Port Authority and Building Product Manufacturers and Sri Lankan and Malaysian Food Production," JLL's National Director of Valuations Dave Wigmore says.

JLL's valuers are based in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and act for many small locally owned businesses up to our largest corporates, Government departments and educational facilities.

In Christchurch, JLL has moved into residential valuation work and plans to offer this service across the country. JLL has gone from a very limited presence in the Christchurch residential property valuation market in 2013 to now holding a reasonably sizeable part of market share. "This service has the opportunity to further expand with the adoption of new technology and as the team of quality graduates JLL has employed develop and qualify as registered valuers over the next 12 to 24 months," JLL Christchurch's Director of Valuation & Advisory Mark Foster says.

Expert advice, global reach

JLL is an award-winning firm and has received many accolades over the years including Commercial Team of the Year, Best Deal of the Year, Valuations Team of Year and Young Achiever of the Year at the 2015 RICS Awards.

JLL has also just been named one of the World's Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute for the ninth consecutive year.

Over the last 30 years, the company's experts have had considerable influence over the Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch commercial property markets. A JLL valuer, property manager or agent has had a hand in the life cycle of almost every major building in those cities.

The New Zealand team works in conjunction with JLL's global network of more than 230 corporate offices in 80 countries. In the Asia Pacific region, JLL has more than 32,000 employees.

"We've helped grow New Zealand's commercial property market and consequently had a hand in the development of our cities and our economy over the last 30 years. We're excited about what comes next and playing our part in New Zealand's future," Wilson says.
