Carlton Bar & Eatery operator to open new establishment

Exclusive leasing agents for the premises at 176 Armagh Street Christchurch, Sam Connell and Chris Harding of JLL, have brokered the lease with a new hospitality establishment that is scheduled to move into the popular New Regent Street precinct.

It is confirmed that the new bar and restaurant that will be occupying the premises at 176 Armagh Street will be opening for business late August 2015 and run by the successful operator of the Carlton Bar & Eatery, located on the corner of Bealey Avenue and 1 Papanui Rd. 

Connell says, “Hotels and serviced apartments in the area have been reporting vacancy rates at an all-time low post earthquake so this bona fide hospitality space presented a prime opportunity for a seasoned operator to establish an offering that has been missing from this part of town for a long time. We believe we found the right fit for this building and who will complement the surrounding tenant mix.”

This 360sqm property previously housed a hospitality establishment and is perfectly equipped for its new tenants with a bar and service area already in place. Comprising of two floors with attractive outdoor areas on both levels, this property provides the new tenants with a great site to operate a successful hospitality venture.

176 Armagh Street is settled in an iconic location, situated at the beginning of Christchurch’s only remaining complete heritage streetscape, New Regent Street. Officially opened in 1932, New Regent Street is famed for being Christchurch’s most charming street featuring Spanish Mission architecture and an iconic pastel colour scheme, along with being on the main route for the historic tram.

New Regent Street is recognised as a place of indulgence with a wealth of boutique shops, cafes and bars and is positioned next door to the performing arts precinct which adds to this property’s’ appeal. Regular art exhibitions feature at the precinct along with the recently restored Isaac Theatre Royal which hosts many musical performances and shows.

A recent Detailed Engineering Evaluation (DEE) placed this building at >67% of the New Building Standards.
